During 2019-20, the Higher Education Recruitment Consortium (HERC) celebrated its 20th anniversary. As HERC commemorated this significant milestone, our nation and the world confronted a global pandemic that, among other harsh realities, illuminated the disproportionate impact of the Coronavirus on communities of color, economically disadvantaged populations, the elderly, and working families. We lived amid a reignited Black Lives Matter movement, combating institutional and systemic racism while interrogating the policies, practices, and behaviors that defined the “status quo."
