We are excited to announce that Harper College will now serve as the lead institution for the Greater Chicago Midwest Higher Education Recruitment Consortium (GCM HERC). With 100 community colleges in the HERC member network, Harper College is the first one to take on this leadership role.  Launched in 2007, GCM HERC comprises 16 institutions, including DePaul University, the University of Chicago, and the University of Notre Dame.

“Becoming the lead institution for the Greater Chicago Midwest HERC is an exciting next step in Harper College’s partnership with HERC,” said Amanda Duval Norwood, Chief Human Resources Officer, Harper College. “Thanks to HERC, we’ve made measurable progress toward our recruitment goals, and the positive impact is being felt across our campus. We’re proud to help lead the important work of creating campuses where faculty and staff feel valued and supported in our region.”

Harper College’s leadership role with GCM HERC reinforces its dedication to advancing inclusive excellence in higher education. As the primary convener of a dynamic network of institutions committed to building inclusive workplaces, Harper College will help connect the region’s talented workforce with rewarding careers in academia.

“GCM HERC actively connects job seekers in Illinois, southern Wisconsin, and Indiana to meaningful opportunities in higher education and supports our institutions in fostering welcoming and supportive campus communities,” said Daniel Butcher, Regional Director, GCM HERC.

Other regional lead institutions include East Carolina University, Centre College, Columbia University, George Mason University, Harvard University, Michigan State University, Minnesota State University, Princeton University, San Diego State University, the University at Buffalo, and the University of Houston.

“Harper College joins a prestigious group of colleges and universities that have deepened their commitment to improving higher education recruitment practices and workplace culture by serving as regional lead institutions,” said Nikki Duncan, Governance Board Chair of the Higher Education Recruitment Consortium. “Their leadership ensures HERC can address regional workforce challenges, promote higher education careers, and foster collaboration across institutions.”

We look forward to partnering with Harper College to build higher education workplaces where people from all backgrounds and perspectives can thrive.
