Speaker Bios
Elizabeth Conklin joined Yale University in the inaugural role of Associate Vice President for Institutional Equity, Access, and Belonging in September 2020. In this role, Elizabeth provides leadership for Yale’s institutional equity, access, and belonging strategy and initiatives. This includes overseeing the Office of Institutional Equity and Access, Student Accessibility Services, and the Office of LGBTQ Resources. Elizabeth’s work also focuses on ensuring training for university community members on responding to discrimination and harassment and creating a culture of belonging to prevent such behaviors.
Prior to joining Yale, Elizabeth served for nearly nine years as UConn’s Associate Vice President for the Office of Institutional Equity, Title IX Coordinator and ADA Coordinator. Before her time in higher education administration, Elizabeth was an associate attorney with a midsize Hartford law firm practicing labor and employment law.
Elizabeth earned her law degree from the University of Oregon School of Law, and she is a cum laude graduate of the University of Connecticut, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree with an independent double major in Political Science and Peace Studies.
Mike Eastman joined the Center for Workplace Compliance in 2012 and serves as the association’s senior vice president for policy and assistant general counsel. Mike has 25 years of experience in labor and employment policy and has been a leader representing the business community in numerous high-profile public policy debates as well as nuanced and detailed negotiations.
Mike regularly writes about compliance with employment law and policy development including CWC memoranda, regulatory comments, and compliance guides. He is a frequent speaker on employment policy and has testified before Congress and federal enforcement agencies. Mike’s insights have frequently appeared in national news publications and major media outlets.
Before joining CWC, Mike served as executive director of labor policy for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Earlier, Mike practiced labor and employment law and worked on Capitol Hill.
In addition to his work at CWC, Mike is a partner with the Washington, D.C. law firm NT Lakis. He is also a senior consultant with Employment Advisory Services, Inc., a human resources consulting firm.
Mike received his BA in psychology from Colgate University and his JD from George Mason University. He is admitted to the bars of Virginia and the District of Columbia.
