The Keynote Address-Introduction to OOD and Disability Etiquette - Will provide an overview of the agency - Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD), ongoing vocational rehabilitation programs, and new initiatives in the months ahead and how these relate to the attendees. Additionally, there will be a presentation on Disability Etiquette. The goal here is to create a comfortable work environment for all employees by making participants aware of respectful etiquette and proper language usage related to interactions with people with disabilities. It will also teach the audience to anticipate situations which might occur in the workplace with people with disabilities.
Breakout Session-Getting on Board with Inclusive Hiring - Participants will learn proven methods that are simple to implement to remove barriers and make the entire hiring process more accessible and inclusive.
Breakout Session-Pick A Disability - Allows individual fears and stereotypes about disabilities to surface. Such attitudes that are based on experience (or lack of experience) of a disability affect a person’s willingness to hire an individual with a disability. It also demonstrates how easily emotional reactions to disabilities can be transferred.
