The Higher Education Recruitment Consortium (HERC) conducts an annual survey of higher education job seekers. The results tell us a lot about what our prospective candidates are looking for in a prospective employer and what our current employees need from their employers. In this interactive session, Southeastern HERC will look at the 2022 data, share insights from our own campuses, and discuss what this means for recruitment and retention. We’ll also explore interventions and initiatives that are responsive to job seekers needs and advance our recruitment and retention goals.

Session Objectives: As a result of this session, participants will:
• Gain a better understanding of the needs, motivations, and concerns of the higher education job seeker in 2022.
• Exchange tangible strategies to improve recruitment and retention efforts with colleagues.

Speakers:
Kari Steele, Technology & Finance Director, Higher Education Recruitment Consortium

As the Technology and Finance Director, Kari oversees HERC’s technology tools, including HERC’s job board and HERConnect, HERC’s online member portal. She also oversees the Central HERC offices’ finances. Kari is passionate about developing and growing internal infrastructures, companies, communities and most of all people.


Jessica Wise, Training and Development Director, Higher Education Recruitment Consortium

Jessica is a learning and development expert specializing in communication; professional development; and diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB). With over 20 years of experience, she is committed to building robust programs that have a lasting impact on individuals, teams, and organizations. In her current role as the Training & Development Director at the Higher Education Recruitment Consortium (HERC), she works with colleges and universities to diversify their workforces and foster inclusive workplaces where people from all backgrounds can thrive.
