Virtual Onboarding: From Compliance to Connection

In light of COVID-19, colleges and universities moved their onboarding process online and found innovative ways to leverage technology, increase efficiency, and improve the employee-experience. They also found creative and sustainable ways to build community and make the onboarding process more equitable. Panelists will discuss how they made the shift to virtual onboarding, including helpful tools and technologies and lessons learned that will influence their onboarding process post-pandemic.

Assistant Director, Talent Operations and Support

Stacy Hatten is a Talent Operations and Support Manager for our People & Engagement Team. She joined Vanderbilt University in May 2008 as a Senior Recruiter. She graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a degree in Business Administration. Stacy is an experienced recruiter and talent acquisition manager with a passion for connecting the right person to the right career. Her past employers include Dell and Gaylord Opryland.

 

Cindi Leverich

Academic Advancement Network

Director of Academic Leadership Development

Cindi joined the Academic Advancement Network (then Faculty & Organizational Development) in March 2008 and has been serving as Director of Academic Leadership Development programs since 2013. In this role, Cindi is responsible for a full portfolio of leadership development opportunities including workshops, peer mentoring and learning communities, fellowship programs, and awards. Cindi also organizes the multi-day orientation for new academic administrators and assists with the development and implementation of orientation activities for all new academics.

Cindi serves the liaison for the MSU Faculty Emeriti Association and the external National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity (NCFDD).  Currently serving as MSU’s MI-ACE Institutional Representative, Cindi also works on programming designed to move the needle and increase opportunities for women in higher education. In partnership with Health4U, Cindi oversees the Academic Women’s Forum which combines space for skill-building opportunities with open conversations.

Cindi, along with Deb DeZure and Allyn Shaw, won the Professional and Organizational Development (POD) Network in Higher Education Innovation Award in 2009 and was a finalist again in 2010 for programs focusing on new ways to support mid-career faculty.

Cindi graduated with her MBA in Strategic Management from Davenport University and her B.A. in Hospitality Business from Michigan State University. Cindi is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in the Higher, Adult and Lifelong Education (HALE) program in the College of Education at MSU.

 

Beth Fleek

Solutions Engineer

With NEOGOV/NEOED for 4+ years, Beth is currently a Solutions Engineer. She previously worked as part of NEOED's implementation team and served as Course Developer and Instructor for NEOGOV University. Before her time at NEOGOV/NEOED, worked in Human Resources for 10+ years with experience in both public & private sector HR in roles from Corporate Trainer to Generalist to Assistant Director of HR (overseeing all employment for a state owned, public university in the Northeast US). 

Beth brings a unique first hand perspective to discussions. As a former product user and implementation consultant, her experiences makes her well versed in conducting needs analysis to align products with processes, and she is known for making technical sound doable. 

Beth holds a M.S. Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from Capella University, a B.A. in Liberal Arts from the University of San Diego and multiple HR certifications - allowing her to design training and facilitate discussions around best practices & full employment life cycle expertise, grounded in HR rules and regulations.
